II. SPECIFIC INFORMATION ABOUT COOKIES USED ON OUR WEBSITES

theboxgroup only displays ads to its free users: If you become a "Premium" user, we will not display ads. To show you these ads, we use cookies, for example.

theboxgroup only contracts Tier-1 providers (such as OneTrust) and advertising vendors (such as IAB vendors, Google).

Cookies (and similar technologies) help us better understand what interests and assists our users and improve our services.

Below is a description of some of these cookies:

Session cookies and persistent cookies:

We use so-called "session cookies", which are stored exclusively during your visit to one of our websites.

Additionally, we and our partners use "persistent cookies" to retain information about users who repeatedly access one of our websites.

Analytical cookies, advertising cookies:

We use personalized advertising cookies (which we address further below) and web analytics cookies to measure the number of visitors to different pages and sections of our website, their interactions, the duration of their visits, entry and exit points, to try to improve our content and its ability to interact.

In the area of online advertising, cookies and other similar technologies allow website visitors to be recognized or identified (though not in the conventional sense, i.e., by their first name, last name, ID number, or email address) and grouped or classified into interest-based "audiences."

Thanks to the use of these cookies and similar technologies, it is possible to know your interests and personalize the ads shown to you accordingly.

Third-party advertising:

We assign the use of our advertising spaces to companies who then market these spaces to third parties, who display their ads on our website based on your habits and interests.

As a result, theboxgroup offers its advertising spaces based on real-time bidding through two channels or platforms:

• Google AdManager and various platforms that also market our ad spaces under their own partners using header-bidding techniques (Rubicon Project, Index Exchange, DistrictM, Amazon APS, OpenX).

Through these real-time bids, companies interested in our ad spaces bid to display their ads on our website and tailor their ads to the user.

theboxgroup logically benefits from the displayed ads, allows the collection of user information through cookies, and obtains the user’s consent to this extent via its websites. But this is where our involvement and responsibility end.

theboxgroup cannot control the displayed ads and does not participate in the data processing operations on these platforms to select the user who receives the ads and the advertiser who displays them.

For this purpose and to ensure the quality of the ads and advertisers, theboxgroup only markets its ad spaces through the world’s leading platforms (IAB and others mentioned in the cookie policy), as already noted.

You can prevent targeted ads from being shown to you on theboxgroup websites as follows:

• Through our cookie settings: By accepting or rejecting the different categories of cookies used, you can allow or deny the processing of your data for profile creation, personalized advertising, and other processes described here.

• You can also disable cookies in your browser by installing a plugin such as Ghostery or Privacy Badger or via an opt-out system provided by some third parties who install cookies on our website, such as Google (behavioral advertising) (requires Google login).

Advertising from Adobe:

theboxgroup also offers third-party advertising from Adobe and tracks its users via Google Analytics when they click on their advertising banners to check performance in terms of conversion rates on the advertiser's website.

theboxgroup advertising:

Freepik runs an "affiliate" advertising program on various websites that redirects its users to our website when they click on our banners or ads. We monitor and track the performance of our partners using the software tool Postaffiliate Pro.

Additionally, theboxgroup uses personalized advertising services from Pinterest, Google Ads, and Bing Ads to attract potential new users to our websites, who have been profiled by these platforms based on their interests. theboxgroup selects from these profiles those we assume are interested in our products (e.g., users who have visited our websites or users of a certain age or geographic location).

These platforms integrate "cookies" and other technologies on our website. These technologies allow them, after you have given your consent, to track whether their users have visited the theboxgroup websites only to leave, downloaded products, or become premium users.

They then provide us with this information in a summarized and anonymous form, to invoice us accordingly, allowing us to better understand the price and profitability of our advertising campaigns on the individual platforms.

Additionally, we may show ads to visitors who have left our website without registering to convince them to do so (retargeting techniques).

In regard to these data processing operations, theboxgroup, along with each of these platforms, is a "joint data controller," particularly concerning (i) the selection of user interests we target.

International data transfers:

As part of the theboxgroup advertising, we participate in international transfers of personal data to countries that may have a lower level of protection than the General Data Protection Regulation provides. These international transfers are therefore based on standard contractual clauses.

For third-party advertising, theboxgroup's control is limited to providing information and obtaining the consent of the visitors to our website for the use of their cookies for displaying personalized ads.
